The candidate for mayor of Kraków endorsed by the leaders of the Civic Coalition and the Polish People’s Party was announced… in Warsaw. Other candidates were quick to notice it.
“I’ll say one thing: decisions about Kraków should be made in Kraków,” said Michał Drewnicki of Law and Justice.
Monika Piątkowska, a senator representing the Civic Coalition, announced today that she would seek the office of mayor of Kraków, thanking Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Deputy Prime Minister, PSL leader Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, for supporting her candidacy.
Piątkowska announced her candidacy during a press conference in Warsaw attended by both Tusk and Kosiniak-Kamysz.
“I have made the decision that I will run for the office of mayor of Kraków — a city where I spent my entire adult life, a city where I completed my studies, a city where my son was born,” she said.
The senator thanked Prime Minister Tusk and Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz for supporting her candidacy.
“I spent many years working at Kraków City Hall. I am going to Kraków as a city that is my only political party,” added the Civic Coalition representative.
“Honestly? I’m surprised”
The conference in Warsaw, where the candidate for mayor of Kraków was presented, has already drawn comments from other candidates.
“Honestly? I’m surprised that the presentation of the KO candidate took place somewhere in a little square in Warsaw. I practically don’t know this lady, so I don’t want to judge her, but you sent me a quotation from Kraków activists of her own party. I assume they know best. I’ll say one thing: decisions about Kraków should be made in Kraków,” commented PiS candidate Michał Drewnicki.
“An open question remains: did the conference take place in a field, or rather outside?” joked Bartosz Bocheńczak, the candidate of Confederation.
“Civic Coalition has clearly decided not even to pretend that it has any positive offer for Kraków (…) You can’t even say they brought it in a briefcase, because they didn’t bother to come here,” stressed Aleksandra Owca, the candidate of Razem.
