A massive fire broke out at a warehouse storing electric scooters on Rzepakowa Street in Katowice, plunging the southern districts of the city into a cloud of dark smoke. The equipment was stored in a building owned by Farmacol. According to wKatowicach.eu, the blaze has affected a warehouse spanning nearly 5000 square meters and an adjacent office building.
Firefighters from 22 fire brigades, including a special firefighting unit from the Tychy Fire Department, have been dispatched to the scene to combat the inferno. The operation is ongoing as firefighters work tirelessly to contain the flames.
The billowing smoke is visible from several dozen kilometers away, prompting authorities to advise residents to keep their windows closed as a precautionary measure.
In response to the incident, an investigation will be launched under the jurisdiction of the Katowice-Południe District Prosecutor’s Office. Additionally, an expert in the field of fire safety will be appointed to provide insights into the cause and scale of the blaze.
The fire has caused significant disruption and raised concerns about the safety of warehouse facilities storing potentially hazardous goods.
