The Sejm session began today with a strong statement by MP Dariusz Matecki (Law and Justice, PiS). He thundered about the absence of Prime Minister Donald Tusk. “Tusk is not with the Polish people; Tusk is against us,” declared the opposition politician.
Donald Tusk remained silent on August 1st. The Prime Minister was absent from ceremonies commemorating the Warsaw Uprising, and he also made no mention of it on social media. This was pointed out during the opening of yesterday’s Sejm session by one of the opposition representatives.
“Donald Tusk didn’t show up again,” began MP Dariusz Matecki of PiS in his address.
“He wasn’t there on August 1st. He was absent while Poland paid tribute to the Warsaw Insurgents. He was absent because, as he once wrote, Polishness provokes in him a sense of rebellion. He wasn’t there on March 1st, when we honoured the Cursed Soldiers, murdered by Russians and Soviets. He wasn’t there on April 10th, on May 3rd, nor on July 11th, when we paid homage to Poles murdered by Ukrainians. Tusk is not with Poles; Tusk is against us. He is Berlin’s man, who turns his back on Polish history because his loyalty lies elsewhere. He has also demonstrated this in the matter of reparations owed to Poland. For Poles, it is betrayal; for him, a political strategy,”
the parliamentarian continued.
“Tusk, on August 1st, didn’t find even a moment to honour the victims of German crimes, not even with a social media post. Two hundred thousand murdered Poles, with no remembrance from the prime minister-governor,” he concluded.
