Members of the Gazeta Polska Clubs have already reached Monte Cassino. Commemorative ceremonies marking the anniversary of the Battle of Monte Cassino will take place on site, along with a prayer at the Polish War Cemetery, honoring the soldiers of the 2nd Polish Corps under General Władysław Anders.
Since May 13, a pilgrimage of Gazeta Polska Club members to Italy has been underway. The pilgrims arrived at Monte Cassino today. This is the culminating point of the entire journey. The commemorations will include anniversary ceremonies of the Battle of Monte Cassino, as well as a prayer at the Polish War Cemetery, where soldiers of the 2nd Polish Corps under General Władysław Anders are buried – the same soldiers who captured the monastery in May 1944. President Karol Nawrocki will take part in today’s events.
“All participants will return to Poland with unforgettable memories and experiences that will stay with them for a lifetime,” said Beata Dróżdż, chair of the “Gazeta Polska” Club in Piotrków Trybunalski, in an interview with the Niezależna.pl portal.
