“My declaration is clear.” Morawiecki speaks out again after PiS ban

Former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has spoken out again on the ban preventing Law and Justice (PiS) members from participating in politically active organizations. The deputy leader of the opposition party has no intention of abandoning his involvement in the “Rozwój Plus” association.

On Wednesday, the leadership of Law and Justice (PiS) ordered party members to resign from associations engaged in political activities. The resolution covers, among others, initiatives linked to Mateusz Morawiecki and Jacek Sasin.

The PiS authorities are demanding full compliance with the new rules. Members of the Sejm, senators, and MEPs have seven days, starting from Thursday, to submit statements confirming that they are not members of organizations covered by the ban. Failure to comply with the resolution may result in the Political Committee launching a procedure that could lead to the removal of a given person from the party.

Shortly after the resolution was adopted, Jacek Sasin commented on the matter. He declared that he would comply with the party’s decision and announced the end of the activities of the “Po pierwsze Polska” association.

Mateusz Morawiecki also addressed the issue. However, he argued that there was a need for a “broad opening” and declared that the “Rozwój Plus” association would continue its activities.

“The decision has been made”

On Thursday, Law and Justice (PiS) spokesperson Rafał Bochenek joined the discussion. As he stated, “the decision regarding the involvement of PiS members in associations has been made.”

“Either you want to belong to one organization or the other. The goals of the ‘Rozwój Plus’ association are clear – they are political and conflict with the activities of PiS” – he said.

He added that “the deadline for each parliamentarian to make a decision expires on July 23 this year.” “Everyone makes the choice independently, without pressure” – he wrote.

“A clear declaration”

Later that afternoon, the former deputy prime minister responded to the issue again.

“At a time of the greatest crisis of Tusk’s government, with a huge number of scandals, the collapse of the healthcare system, and conflicts within the coalition, creating an internal division in our party by a narrow group of plotters is the last thing we need” – he stated.

“My declaration is clear: I want to remain in PiS, I want to develop ‘Rozwój Plus’. I want an ambitious Poland to win. All of this is possible only together” – he declared.
