NATO pledges to increase military support for Ukraine, emphasizing the need for more equipment and ammunition amid ongoing conflict.
NATO allies have pledged to increase their military support for Ukraine, announced NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Wednesday. This statement followed a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council, convened at Ukraine’s request at the ambassadorial level. Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov joined the meeting remotely to discuss the country’s current needs.
Strengthening Ukraine’s Defense
“Ukraine continues to intercept Russian missiles daily, saving countless lives. However, Ukraine’s ability to maintain its defense requires increased supplies and greater support,” Stoltenberg emphasized in a statement released after the meeting. In response to the latest Russian attacks, NATO allies confirmed they would enhance their military assistance to Ukraine.
Essential Equipment and Ammunition
Stoltenberg highlighted that Ukraine still needs more equipment and ammunition, which NATO allies must provide to ensure Ukraine remains on the battlefield. The NATO-Ukraine Council, established at the NATO Summit in July 2023, serves as a platform for consultations between NATO and Ukraine.
