Ontario Provincial Police officer of Polish descent shot on duty

The murder of the officer took place near Brantford, Canada. Grzegorz Pierzchała was a 28-year-old mountaineer, once a member of the band Mali Harnasie.

Const. Grzegorz Pierzchała was a police officer in the Ontario Provincial Police in Canada. He died on Tuesday afternoon when he was called to an overturned car in a ditch. When he arrived at the scene, a shootout ensued, during which he was fatally shot. The suspects in the killing are a man and a woman who have already been arrested.

“Grzesiu was a member of the band Mali Harnasie for many years, had a big heart and was always smiling. He was only 28 years old. Our deepest sympathies to his parents, siblings, all his family and loved ones. May he rest in peace,” wrote members of the Polish Highlanders Association in Canada on their Facebook profile.

When Grzegorz arrived at the scene and approached this car the driver pulled out a gun and fatally shot him. He did not even have a chance to react because he was sure he was helping the people who had ended up in the ditch. The perpetrators of the shooting, a man and a woman, were arrested a few hours later. They had been wanted by the police for several months and the car was stolen.

The death of a police officer from Poland has shocked the entire province. His colleagues paid tribute to him which is presented in the video below.
