In the third round of the Australian Open, Iga Swiatek (WTA 1) defeated Spaniard Cristina Bucsa (WTA 100) 2:0 (6:0, 6:1) in just 55 minutes. In their next encounter on the courts in Melbourne, the World No.1 will face Jelena Rybakina.
It is hard to comment in any way on what happened on the court in Melbourne. The Pole dominated from the very start. Bucsa, who is ranked 100th in the WTA rankings, was tense and unable to show any successful play.
Not much changed in the second set. With the score at 5:0, Swiatek allowed her rival to score one game. The Spaniard received a huge round of applause from the fans and her father, who could only smile as he watched what the Polish tennis player was doing.
The Pole’s rival in the fourth round will be Jelena Rybakina (25th WTA). The meeting will be played on Sunday, January 22.
