PiS Politicians Head to the German Border: “Residents of Western Poland Must Regain Their Security”

Today, politicians from the Law and Justice (Prawo i Sprawiedliwość, PiS) party will visit Poland’s western border. Several press conferences are planned in towns situated along the German border. “I call on the government—do not fear the Germans. Issue a firm veto and stop the actions of the German services. Poland must be safe,” stated Mariusz Błaszczak, head of the Law and Justice parliamentary group, in a social media post.

Leading figures from Law and Justice will visit towns on Poland’s western frontier, with the central topic being Germany’s migration policy, which allegedly involves the transfer of migrants onto Polish territory. According to certain estimates, there may have been at least several thousand such incidents over the past year.

PiS politicians have scheduled a series of press conferences in the towns of Słubice, Rosówek, and Zgorzelec.

Błaszczak: The Government Remains Passive

The opposition has long been drawing attention to the issue of migrants being brought into Poland via its western border.

“The government has lost control over the situation unfolding daily along the Polish-German border. What prevails here is utter lawlessness and arbitrariness, with German services beginning to treat parts of the Polish side of the border as their own territory. Each day, illegal migrants are transferred to the Polish side,”

said Mariusz Błaszczak in a video shared on social media.

“No one is monitoring this, no one is verifying them, and the Polish government remains entirely passive. The Polish state has abdicated its responsibilities in the border zone with Germany. The residents of western Poland must regain their sense of security. I appeal to the government—do not be afraid of the Germans. Issue a firm veto and stop the actions of the German services. Poland must be safe,”

he added.

Berlin’s Secret Plan

On Friday, the newspaper Bild revealed what it called a “secret plan” by Friedrich Merz, the leading candidate to become the next Chancellor of Germany.

Merz reportedly seeks to involve Germany’s key neighboring countries in the process of returning refugees. According to the report, “secret talks are already underway with Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, and France.” The aim of the alliance is to “limit migration and implement systematic returns at the borders.”

President Andrzej Duda responded to this issue, having recently submitted a series of questions to Prime Minister Donald Tusk, including inquiries concerning the situation at Poland’s western border.

“My written questions regarding the western border and the threat of illegal migrants being brought into Poland from Germany greatly upset the Prime Minister. Is it because he is obliged to carry out Berlin’s ‘secret plan,’ the very one the Germans themselves have written about?”

the President asked.
