Poland on High Flood Alert as Military Prepares for Intense Rainfall

Poland is on high flood alert with intense rainfall expected; military and emergency services are fully mobilized.

Poland is bracing for severe flooding as the military and emergency services are placed on high alert. The Ministry of National Defence (MON) has mobilized all available resources in response to forecasted heavy rainfall in southern and western regions.

    Heavy Rainfall Expected

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) warns of up to 150 liters of rain per square meter from Thursday to Sunday in Lower Silesia, Opole, Silesia, and Lesser Poland. The warning level is at the highest, third degree, with the heaviest rainfall predicted in the Kłodzko Valley.

    Government and Local Response

Defense Minister assured that the military is fully equipped with boats, amphibians, and other necessary tools for immediate action. Local authorities and emergency services have already made over 40 interventions due to ongoing rain. Although the situation is being compared to the 1997 “thousand-year flood,” current conditions are less severe due to the longer duration of rainfall.
