Poland’s Prospects at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary

Poland’s athletes are set to compete for 49 medals in the World Athletics Championships held in Budapest, with events spanning men’s, women’s, and mixed disciplines. Reflecting on the previous championships in Eugene, the US dominated the medal tally with 33 medals. Poland secured a respectable 8th position with one gold and three silver medals.

The 2023 World Athletics Championships, the nineteenth edition of the World Athletics Championships, are scheduled to be held from 19 to 27 August 2023 at the National Athletics Centre, in Budapest, Hungary.

These are the first World Athletics Championships in Hungary. The city of Budapest had previously stated an interest to host the 2007 World Championships, but withdrew and it was eventually held in Osaka.

In this year’s competition, eyes are on Wojciech Nowicki in the men’s hammer throw, a strong contender for gold after his impressive performances. The morning session includes key events like shot put and heptathlon, with Paulina Ligarska representing Poland. The evening session, televised on TVP SPORT and TVP 1, features finals including the men’s shot put, where Konrad Bukowiecki and Michał Haratyk may shine.

The spotlight also falls on the mixed 4x400m relay finals, with Poland vying for success. The championship’s climax showcases the men’s shot put final and the women’s 10,000m race.

In a bid for success, Polish athletes aim to secure their place on the podium, exemplifying dedication and determination in the world of athletics.
