Poland’s men’s volleyball team reached the Olympic semi-finals after 44 years, defeating Slovenia 3-1.
Poland’s national men’s volleyball team has finally advanced to the semi-finals of the Olympic Games after a 44-year hiatus. The team broke a streak of five consecutive quarter-final losses by defeating Slovenia 3-1, earning their place in the last four of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Semi-Final Showdown
Poland’s next challenge will be against the USA or Brazil, with the semi-final scheduled for Wednesday, August 7th. The winner of this match will advance to the final, bringing them one step closer to Olympic glory. In the other semi-final, Italy or Japan will face the winner between France and Germany.
“At the quarter-final stage of the Olympic Games, there is no ‘easy’ opponent. All teams play volleyball at a very high level, and the match against any of them will be a huge challenge for us, but also for our opponents. Slovenia is a rival we have faced for years. They have been playing with the same lineup for years, they are very well-coordinated and well-organized. They play dirty, technical volleyball, but we have the skills and experience to counter them,”
