Poles Rate the Economy Under Tusk: Nearly Half Say It Was Better During the Previous Rule

Nearly half of Poles believe that the current economic situation in Poland is worse than during the rule of Law and Justice (PiS), according to the latest United Surveys poll.

The survey was commissioned by WP.pl. Respondents answered the question: “How do you assess the current economic situation in Poland compared to the period of PiS rule?”

As many as 47.4% of respondents evaluated it negatively, with 29.5% saying it is “definitely worse,” and 17.9% that it is “slightly worse.”

A total of 38.4% of those surveyed believe things are better. 21.1% said it is “definitely better,” and 17.3% that it is “slightly better.”

12.4% of participants stated that there is no significant difference between the current state of the economy and the period of PiS rule. 1.7% admitted they could not answer the question.

Assessment vs. political preferences

A large majority of voters for the current ruling coalition believe the situation is better now. 57% of them said it is “definitely better,” and 37% it is “slightly better.” Only 1% stated it is “slightly worse,” and no one said it is “definitely worse.” 5% had no opinion.

Opposition voters gave different responses. 49% of those voting for PiS and Confederation believe the state of the economy is “definitely worse” than under the previous government, and 28% that it is “slightly worse.” 1% answered that it is “definitely better,” and 3% chose “slightly better.” 19% could not identify a difference.

Interestingly, negative views also dominated among those who do not identify with any political party. 38% of them said the situation is “definitely worse,” and 27% that it is “slightly worse.” 15% of respondents in this group said it is “slightly better,” though none stated it is “definitely better.” 10% could not assess the situation.

The survey was conducted on November 21-23, 2025, using the CATI&CAWI method, on a sample of n=1000.
