Poles Want Change: Polls Indicate Demand for a New Prime Minister

On Monday, another poll was published indicating that most Poles desire a new prime minister. According to the survey conducted by IBRiS, only 40.5% of respondents supported Donald Tusk remaining as head of government.

Following Rafał Trzaskowski’s defeat in the presidential elections, the question arose as to whether his superior, Donald Tusk, should continue to serve as prime minister. Many commentators suggest the head of government contributed significantly to the deputy leader of Civic Platform’s defeat. Even Tusk’s coalition partners discussed the necessity of changing the Prime Minister, although ultimately, the government received a vote of confidence.

Nevertheless, the discussion persists, with increasing indications that Poles favor a new prime minister. On Saturday, the portal rp.pl, often critical of Tusk, published a poll conducted by SW Research, showing only 43.4% of respondents favored the Civic Platform leader retaining his position. Monday brought even less favorable data for Tusk.

Will there be a new prime minister?

This latest poll by IBRiS, commissioned by Polsat News, addressed the question directly: “Should Tusk continue as Prime Minister?” Only 40.5% answered “Yes,” including 20.1% who said “definitely yes,” and 20.4% who answered “rather yes.”

In contrast, 46% were against, with 30.7% choosing “definitely no” and 15.3% selecting “rather no.” Meanwhile, 13.5% had no opinion.

The survey was conducted by IBRiS from June 12 to June 14 using standardized telephone interviews supported by computers (CATI) on a sample of 1,000 adult Poles.
