“We need strong uniformed services, a strong police force – but one that understands it serves citizens, freedom, and social justice,” President Karol Nawrocki said on Friday during the central Police Day celebrations in Warsaw.
The ceremony at Piłsudski Square in Warsaw began at 12:00 p.m. with the presentation of police promotions.
President Nawrocki thanked police officers for their service. He emphasized that, regardless of political differences, the country’s highest-ranking officials had gathered to take part in the celebrations. He also noted that this year marks the 107th anniversary of the establishment of the Polish Police.
As the president pointed out, today’s realities mean that “internal security and external security are increasingly intertwined,” resulting in police officers taking on more and more new responsibilities. He also recalled the words of Marshal Józef Piłsudski: “Strength without freedom and without justice is nothing more than violence or tyranny.”
