Emotions remain high within Law and Justice (PiS) following Thursday’s talks between Jarosław Kaczyński and Mateusz Morawiecki. Shortly before the PiS leader’s statement scheduled for 12:00 p.m., the party’s deputy spokesperson, Mateusz Kurzejewski, spoke out. He criticized the narrative promoted by some politicians associated with the “Rozwój Plus” association, arguing that the accusations against Professor Przemysław Czarnek’s policy campaign are “simply unfair.”
Following yesterday’s meeting between Jarosław Kaczyński and Mateusz Morawiecki, the leader of Law and Justice (PiS) is expected to deliver a statement today at 12:00 p.m. It is publicly known that Thursday’s talks ended without an agreement, and politicians affiliated with the “Rozwój Plus” association ultimately declined to sign declarations confirming that they would not participate in organizations of a political nature.
Kurzejewski: “It’s Unfair”
Mateusz Kurzejewski, deputy spokesperson for Law and Justice (PiS), addressed the developments surrounding the country’s largest opposition party on social media today. He pointed to what he described as attacks on the party’s candidate for prime minister, Professor Przemysław Czarnek, by some members of the party – specifically those involved in the “Rozwój Plus” association alongside Mateusz Morawiecki.
“I completely do not understand the narrative of some of our colleagues from ‘Rozwój Plus’ claiming that Professor Przemysław Czarnek’s policy campaign focuses exclusively on radicalism,” he wrote.
“Let me remind you that since March, our candidate for prime minister has proposed, among other things, raising the threshold for the second income tax bracket to PLN 180,000, exempting the first PLN 2,500 of income earned by working seniors from taxation, and significantly reducing electricity bills. In addition, the policy campaign includes increasing spending on science to 3% of GDP, building Port Haller, and lowering fuel prices,” he continued.
Kurzejewski concluded: “These are pro-growth, well-thought-out, and fully costed proposals. Claiming that our policy campaign consists solely of ‘radical’ measures is simply unfair.”
