Polish President Meets with Italian Prime Minister. An Hour-Long Nawrocki–Meloni Conversation

On Thursday, Polish President Karol Nawrocki held an hour-long meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at her office in Palazzo Chigi in Rome. It was the Polish president’s first political meeting during his visit to the Eternal City, which will last until Friday.

The ceremonial welcome of the president by the head of the Italian government took place in the courtyard of Palazzo Chigi. Afterwards, they proceeded to their talks. “Is this a signal of where he sees allies in Europe?” – such a question was raised at a press conference by the head of the International Policy Bureau, Marcin Przydacz.

“In international politics one must seek allies. Giorgia Meloni is a member of the European Conservatives and Reformists. It’s a conservative agenda, a sound approach to European policies, not just listening to the voice coming from the capital of the largest EU member state, as liberals and the left often do,” Przydacz replied.

“There is a need to cooperate with those who want to pursue European policy in a healthy way, hence the meeting with Giorgia Meloni. This is the second capital after Washington – Rome. But this political dimension is only one of the elements. Rome is also the capital of our civilization, the European civilization. This visit therefore has a symbolic dimension as well,” the minister added.

Tomorrow, the President of Poland will be received in audience by Pope Leo XIV. He will also meet with Italian President Sergio Mattarella.
