President Duda Urges Poles to Safeguard Democracy by Voting

On May 3rd, Constitution Day, President Andrzej Duda called on Polish citizens to protect the country’s democratic values by actively participating in upcoming elections.

“Today, on May 3rd, I ask you, my fellow citizens, to stand guard over Poland — by voting, and by ensuring that our elections remain truly democratic,” Duda said during his national address marking the anniversary of the 1791 Constitution.

With a presidential election on the horizon, the president stressed the importance of civic responsibility amid growing regional instability.

“We are living in difficult times. Russian aggression continues in Ukraine, and the security situation around us remains uncertain,” he said. “It is essential that Poland emerges from the presidential election strong and unified. For the next president to have a solid mandate, it is crucial that citizens go to the polls and vote.”

Duda also appealed to voters to support those unable to cast their ballots themselves. “Take part in these elections. Take responsibility for Poland into your own hands. Help those who, for various reasons, cannot get to the polls,” he urged.

The president emphasized that fair, transparent elections are vital to maintaining Poland’s democratic character and sovereignty. “What matters most is that the elections are honest and credible — that we can choose freely and responsibly.”

Reflecting on his time in office, Duda thanked citizens for their support over the past decade. “I’ve had the honor of serving the Republic with deep conviction — building a strong, sovereign, and secure Poland. A country that treats its citizens equally, supports the vulnerable, and does not fear the powerful. A country where integrity triumphs over cynicism and corruption.”

He concluded with a hopeful message: “Let us work together for a Poland we can be proud of — democratic, fair, and governed by the rule of law. A place we want to return to, where we feel safe, where we raise our children and pass on our homeland to future generations in peace.”

“May God always watch over the Republic of Poland,” he said.
