Polish President Karol Nawrocki, together with First Lady Marta Nawrocka, has already arrived in New York. The highlight of President Nawrocki’s visit to the USA will be his participation in the general debate of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Meeting of the presidential couple with the Polish-American community
The presidential couple’s plane landed in New York after 7 p.m. local time (1 a.m. in Poland) at John F. Kennedy Airport. President Nawrocki and his wife were welcomed by Poland’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Krzysztof Szczerski. The President and the First Lady will begin their stay in the USA with a visit to the Marian shrine in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, known as the American Częstochowa, where a replica of the icon from Jasna Góra is located. There, he will take part in the unveiling of a plaque commemorating the late Prime Minister Jan Olszewski, attend Holy Mass, and participate in a ceremony awarding honors to members of the Polish diaspora.
80th session of the UN General Assembly with President Nawrocki’s participation
The Polish President will attend the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. Karol Nawrocki will deliver a speech on the first day of the general debate, on Tuesday during the afternoon session (around 11 p.m. Polish time).
As Minister Przydacz announced before the Polish delegation’s departure to the USA, in his speech before the UN President Nawrocki will focus on security issues and present Poland’s view on the future of international relations and the global order. He will also address regional challenges, including “security challenges arising from Russia’s aggressive stance, with its goals – and that goal is to dismantle or reshape the existing security architecture and move away from a world based on the principles of international law in favor of a law based on the law of force, because this is what Russian policy is truly guided by,“ he said. During his stay in the USA, which will last until Wednesday, meetings are also planned between the Polish leader and other world leaders.
According to Marcin Przydacz, head of the Presidential Bureau of International Policy, President Nawrocki will meet with key representatives of American politics, economy, and business, including U.S. investors in Poland and representatives of companies supplying military equipment ordered by the Polish Armed Forces.
“Of course, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, will also be present, and such contact will certainly take place in the near future,” emphasized the representative of the Chancellery of the President of Poland.
