The opening ceremony of the 25th Winter Olympic Games took place at San Siro Stadium in Milan. Dozens of presidents were present in the honorary boxes, including Karol Nawrocki, along with heads of government, royal families, and U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance.
Italy inaugurated the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympic Games with an opening ceremony held simultaneously in four locations – from the legendary San Siro Stadium to the Alpine towns of Cortina d’Ampezzo, Predazzo, and Livigno.
For the first time in the history of the Winter Olympics, the Games are officially hosted by two cities: Milan in Lombardy and Cortina d’Ampezzo in Veneto. As a result, a “distributed” opening ceremony was prepared, during which the parade of athletes from participating countries took place – for the first time – simultaneously in four locations, and two Olympic cauldrons were lit.
The traditional parade was organized in an inventive way: athletes marched in the places where they would compete. Poles therefore took part in the parade in all four locations. At San Siro, the white-and-red flag was carried by speed skater Natalia Czerwonka, while in Predazzo this honor went to three-time Olympic champion in ski jumping, retiring Kamil Stoch.
Poland will be represented by a 60-member team. The white-and-red team’s previous tally at the Winter Olympics stands at 23 medals – seven gold, seven silver, and nine bronze. The Olympic competitions in Italy will continue until February 22.
President Karol Nawrocki attended the opening ceremony of the Games. Although TVP in liquidation omitted him…
