President Nawrocki Presents Professorial Nominations

“You, the world of science, Polish professors, Polish scholars, are essential for Poland to develop toward prosperity, awareness, and growth that we all expect in the 21st century. My great congratulations and thanks,” said President of the Republic of Poland Karol Nawrocki as he addressed academic teachers and cultural and arts professionals during the ceremony at which they received their nomination deeds.

The Professorial Nomination Ceremony

More than 140 scholars and artists today received professorial nominations from the hands of the President. This was the first such ceremony during Karol Nawrocki’s term of office. During the event, the Head of State delivered an address.

“As President of Poland, I will ensure – and this is what I wanted to guarantee to you – that you are subject only to discipline related to the scholarly craft, which applies to all universities and academies, and to good customs, so that the academic world and professors receiving nominations never, ladies and gentlemen, succumb to ideological fashions or the day-to-day realities of politics. This is not the world of academia, not the world of science, which is inseparably linked to the freedom of research. Such a guarantee, as President of Poland, I want to give you,” he announced.

Addressing the scholars, he added: “You, the world of science, Polish professors, Polish scholars, are essential for Poland to develop toward prosperity, awareness, and growth that we all expect in the 21st century. My great congratulations and thanks.”

The President emphasized that the conferral of nominations crowns the professional work of professors. “Science and all its fields are so open, and the world remains so undescribed and unknown, that ahead of you, and ahead of us, there are still many studies and many tasks – for science, but also for the Republic of Poland. Today, you are proof that we should not fear the technological revolution, because the world of people is created by people and is created for people,” he declared.

According to the President, “we should enter technological revolutions without fear, of course with ethical and moral reflection on what new technologies are for, always bearing in mind that nothing will replace knowledge, emotions, sometimes even the missteps of the most outstanding and important scholars, and the intellect that engages with many social fields.”
