President Karol Nawrocki, at a traditional meeting with the Olympic family, wished success to Polish athletes who will soon take part in the Winter Games in Italy. He believes they will bring great joy to all Polish fans. See photos from the meeting.
“I feel like the first fan of the Republic, of all disciplines, and my heart always beats faster when a Polish athlete competes, especially when the Polish anthem resounds and the white-and-red flag flies. I am always proud of that. On behalf of the national community, I can say that Poles are proud of their athletes and of those who lead our athletes to great success,” Nawrocki said at the Olympic Center in Warsaw.
The President noted that he himself had been an amateur athlete in the past. He practiced boxing and football. He said it taught him a great deal.
“There is a radical difference between the world of sport and the world of politics, but there are also similarities. In both sport and politics, we all know how to lose and how to win. Defeat in sport and in politics is something completely natural. We fall in one competition in order to rise in the next. We know and are aware that we can do nothing alone. A team is needed, even in individual sports. A coach is needed, with whom we are in dialogue; physiotherapists are needed; family is needed – and we are all the Olympic family,” Nawrocki emphasized.
