Railway Sabotage Case: Prosecutors Seek Arrest of Two Ukrainian Suspects

Prosecutors have submitted two motions to the Warsaw-Mokotów District Court seeking the imposition of temporary arrest, prosecutor Dariusz Korneluk reported on Wednesday evening. Earlier, two men had been charged with carrying out acts of sabotage on the railway in Poland.

During the investigation, evidence was obtained indicating a very high probability that the perpetrators of the act of sabotage of a terrorist nature were Oleksandr K. (born 1986) and Yevhenii I. (born 1984). Investigators have at their disposal crime scene inspections, witness testimonies, telecommunications data, as well as surveillance footage.

The men were charged with carrying out acts of diversion of a terrorist nature on behalf of Russian intelligence against Poland.

Prosecutor Dariusz Korneluk commented on the matter. “Prosecutors have filed two motions with the Warsaw-Mokotów District Court to apply temporary arrest,” he said on TVN24.

He explained that this is the first step under criminal procedure toward issuing a wanted notice, followed by an international wanted notice and possibly a red notice from Interpol.

He emphasized that the perpetrators are being sought by Polish services not only within the territory of Belarus.

“We are looking for them everywhere it is possible, in order to bring them before the Polish justice system,” he added.
