The situation in Warsaw’s Vistula River is alarming. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) reported that the water level at the Bulwary Wiślane hydrological station has dropped to 25 cm. This is worse than in 2015, and the water continues to recede. According to IMGW forecasts, the Vistula’s water level will fall to a mere 20 cm by Thursday.
Breaking Records
Another record was shattered at the Nadwilanówka station, where the Vistula’s water level was recorded at just 59 cm on Sunday morning, surpassing the previous low set in 2022 by 9 cm. Predictions indicate that by the end of next week, the water level will further decline to 53 cm.
IMGW’s hydrological drought warnings, issued in late June, remain in place, particularly in eastern Poland. These warnings highlight the severity of the ongoing drought and the increasing threat it poses to the region.
