Robert Kubica wins his second European Le Mans Series title with Orlen Team AO by TF in the LMP2 class.
Kubica’s Triumph in LMP2
Robert Kubica, alongside his Orlen Team AO by TF, clinched his second European Le Mans Series (ELMS) championship in the LMP2 category. The team finished second in the 4-hour race at Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão, securing enough points to take the overall season title. Kubica’s first ELMS victory came in 2021, racing with Team WRT.
Consistency Leads to Victory
Kubica was the only Polish driver in the 2024 ELMS season, returning after a three-year hiatus. His team showed consistent performance throughout the season, winning once at Spa and placing second twice. Their steady results outshone rivals like Inter Europol Competition, who finished second overall.
Shifts in LMP2 and Hypercar Classes
This season, LMP2 was removed from the World Endurance Championship (WEC) by FIA, except for the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans, due to the growing focus on Hypercar competition.
