Ruling on Same-Sex Marriages. Sakiewicz Reminds Why the Family Is Afforded Special Protection

“Children are born into families and constitute the foundation for the survival, development, and continuity of society. Here, however, everything has been turned upside down. Something has been created that, in essence, deprives the family of its original purpose. Now money will be invested in extreme notions of what a family should be,” said Tomasz Sakiewicz, head of the station, commenting on the ruling of the Voivodeship Administrative Court on Telewizja Republika.

Today, before the Supreme Administrative Court, a ruling was issued obliging the civil registry office to enter into the Polish register a same-sex marriage certificate concluded abroad.

The decision of the Supreme Administrative Court was commented on by Tomasz Sakiewicz, head of Telewizja Republika, on air.

“This is an avalanche that will have consequences for our entire society—for the personal lives of many people, for public finances, for education. We could go on listing them for a long time,” he said.

He emphasized that “the family in Poland is afforded protection and benefits from privileges that come at a cost.”

“But this is our investment in the future. However, this investment is not about people wanting—excuse me—to love each other. The family is the unit that provides the most valuable thing it can offer—continuity, children. That is why the family is afforded special care,” he explained.

Further justifying the rationale for investing in families, he added:

“Children are born into families and constitute the basis for the survival, development, and continuity of society.”

“Here, however, everything has been turned upside down. Something has been created that, in essence, deprives the family of its original purpose. Now money will be invested in extreme notions of what a family should be. That is not what this is about at all. In fact, it has nothing to do with beliefs or with who sleeps with whom,” Sakiewicz concluded.
