The diplomatic tensions between Poland and Russia have escalated as Ambassador Andreyev failed to appear upon summons and has now reportedly left the country.
Officials from the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MSZ) have revealed that the Russian embassy delivered a note to the Polish MSZ stating that Ambassador Andreyev would be out of Poland in the coming days. They emphasized that the Russian ambassador was not expelled from Poland.
On Monday, MSZ spokesman Paweł Wroński stated that the Russian Ambassador to Poland, Sergey Andreyev, did not appear at the MSZ headquarters to clarify the incident involving a Russian maneuvering missile that violated Polish airspace on March 24.
Radosław Sikorski, questioned about the matter by journalists in Riga, assessed that “Ambassador Andreyev himself testified to his culture and professionalism.” He clarified, “From what I hear, he has already left our territory.” When asked if Andreyev had been expelled, he replied, “No.”
Subsequently, representatives of the Polish MSZ, in a conversation with journalists, specified that the Russian embassy had informed the Polish MSZ that Ambassador Andreyev would be out of Poland in the coming days. They emphasized that the Russian ambassador was not expelled from Poland.
The Operational Command of the Armed Forces reported on Sunday morning on Platform X that at 4:23 a.m. that day, there was a violation of Polish airspace by one of the maneuvering missiles launched at night by the long-range aviation of the Russian Federation. This was related to a Russian attack conducted during the night in the Lviv region of Ukraine.
“The object entered Polish airspace at the height of the town of Oserdów (Lublin Voivodeship) and stayed there for 39 seconds,” the DO RSZ statement said. It was emphasized that during the entire flight, the object was observed by military radar systems.
