“We will defend every persecuted journalist, just as we defend Leszek Kraskowski. And all that will be left for you is shame and a complete loss of credibility…” said the CEO of TV Republika, Tomasz Sakiewicz, in response to questions from the Wirtualne Media portal, which is most likely preparing a publication targeting the station’s journalist Adrian Klarenbach.
A journalist from Wirtualne Media approached the CEO of Republika with questions. Their content suggests that a publication attacking Adrian Klarenbach, a commentator for the station, is being prepared.
The matter concerns an indictment against a TV Republika journalist prepared by the prosecutor’s office taken over after the elections by the December 13 coalition. Among other things, a question was asked whether this situation changes anything in the formula of cooperation between Klarenbach and Republika, and whether he will continue to host his program.
A firm response from the CEO of Republika
Sakiewicz’s response was unequivocal.
“This is a continuation of repression; at this moment, more than a dozen of our journalists have been subjected to prosecutor’s charges, attempts at detention, and raids on their homes. The behavior of media outlets like yours shows that you accept and support the brutal violation of freedom of speech,” said the CEO of TV Republika.
Sakiewicz also announced that the station would stand in defense of its journalists.
“We will defend every persecuted journalist, just as we defend Leszek Kraskowski. And all that will be left for you is shame and a complete loss of credibility…” he wrote, directing these words at the Wirtualne Media portal.
