Tomasz Sakiewicz, editor-in-chief of TV Republika, commenting directly from the transatlantic conference in Washington, assessed Donald Trump’s declaration on the presence of American troops in Poland. He emphasised that this is a historic success for President Karol Nawrocki and for millions of Poles who have supported the alliance with the United States.
An Important Declaration from the U.S. President
The head of TV Republika pointed out that during President Nawrocki’s conversation with Donald Trump in the Oval Office, the long-awaited declaration from the U.S. President regarding the presence of American forces on Polish territory was made:
“We’ve got it. What has been looming over Poland for the past two years, ever since the coalition of December 13 took power, the conflict with the Americans, which could have led to a reduction or even withdrawal of U.S. troops from Poland, that threat has now been eliminated. We have just heard the U.S. President’s declaration, and such a declaration requires no further confirmation. It is effective in itself,”
said the editor-in-chief of TV Republika.
As Sakiewicz underlined, Trump’s decision carries real consequences:
“It means that it takes effect, that U.S. troops will stay, and there is even consideration of increasing their numbers. At a time when the Americans are partially withdrawing from Germany and perhaps from other countries as well, they will expand their contingent in Poland. This is thanks to President Nawrocki,”
he pointed out.
He also recalled earlier signals from the U.S. administration during the CPAC conference in Rzeszów:
“At the congress organised by TV Republika in Rzeszów, Trump’s right hand, Ms. Kristi Noem, promised that if Nawrocki won, Poland would receive military, technological, and economic reinforcement. The first part of that promise is now being fulfilled. The Polish people made the right choice, and because of that, we are receiving greater support,”
he emphasised.
