Scheuring-Wielgus commented on the Polish president’s announcement. Politicians in the studio were stunned

Politicians from the governing coalition oppose the idea of stripping Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Poland’s highest state decoration after he named a Ukrainian unit “Heroes of the UPA.” Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus’s remarks on the issue left the politicians present in the studio with her in disbelief. They did not hide their astonishment.

President Karol Nawrocki publicly expressed outrage over the decision of his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy to name one of Ukraine’s special units after “Heroes of the UPA.” During a press briefing, the Polish head of state informed journalists that he had submitted a request to the Chapter of the Order of the White Eagle to revoke the Order of the White Eagle previously awarded to the Ukrainian president. The body is scheduled to meet on June 8. For the president’s decision to take effect, it requires the countersignature of Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

The issue is being widely commented on by politicians. It was also addressed by left-wing MEP Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus. The politician, who began her political career in Ryszard Petru’s party, caused astonishment among commentators present in the studio with her remarks during Bogdan Rymanowski’s program.

She used a proverb

Both Karol Nawrocki and politicians from Confederation are exploiting this situation politically without thinking about the consequences, the MEP began.

She was immediately asked by the host what possible consequences she was referring to.

“First of all: he who gives and then takes back, goes to hell in disgrace,” said Scheuring-Wielgus. Krzysztof Bosak immediately reacted, commenting: “What nonsense.”

The New Left politician continued her statement, arguing that the consequences of the announcement are already visible, as foreign journalists are contacting her about the issue and new articles are being published. She assessed that the result will be diminishing the Ukrainians’ struggle against the Russian aggression.

“Of course, Vladimir Putin is pleased about this, because he is very interested in us all falling out with each other here,” she added.

When asked whether she was aware that the Russian president would benefit from such a decision by President Zelenskyy, she replied: “Of course,” adding that she did not know why the Ukrainian leader had acted in this way.
