In recent weeks, TV Republika has been the target of more than a dozen attacks involving false alarms and reports. In the investigation conducted by the prosecution, suspects accused of making false reports have been charged in connection with… only a single attack. However, the spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office Warsaw-Praga was unable to specify which incident it referred to.
Today, a press conference was held by the District Prosecutor’s Office Warsaw-Praga and the police regarding false alarms targeting politicians and media outlets, as well as the first arrests in the case.
In an earlier statement, the prosecution reported that two individuals had been detained and charged with participation in and leading an organized criminal group, as well as making false reports. Both have already been placed in pre-trial detention for three months.
Prosecutor Karolina Staros, spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office Warsaw-Praga, said that reports from May 2026 are being examined. The case file also includes proceedings related to an intervention at an apartment belonging to President Karol Nawrocki. In the “presidential” case, no one has yet been charged.
Charges only for one attack on TV Republika
Those detained are facing charges related to a single attack on TV Republika, as well as a report of a threat at the property of Jarosław Kaczyński.
Recently, TV Republika has been the target of at least a dozen attacks involving false reports. The prosecutor was unable to say exactly which attack on the station the charges against one of the men refer to. The suspects face up to 15 years in prison under the charges presented.
Moreover, one of the detainees had previously been held in pre-trial detention for similar offenses but was released due to a lack of grounds for continued detention.
This refers to arrests that took place in autumn 2025 in connection with an investigation conducted “into an organized criminal group aimed at committing crimes primarily consisting of notifying various public and private institutions about threats that did not, in fact, exist.“
Cases concerning incidents from May 2025 were later incorporated into this investigation. The spokesperson stated during the press conference that the investigation formally began in December 2025.
The services emphasized that the arrests made so far are not the last.
What about the third detained person?
This morning on TVN24, Minister of the Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński reported that three people had been detained in the case.
“The third person is not detained in connection with the investigation conducted by the prosecution. We are dealing with a multi-threaded investigation and preliminary activities; this is not formally a person detained in procedural terms,” said Robert Opas, spokesperson for the Chief of Police.
