“Without closing Poland to illegal migration, without launching a deportation campaign, without rejecting political correctness, without properly equipping the Border Guard and the forces responsible for monitoring legal residence-nothing will change, and the security situation will continue to deteriorate. This policy must change,” said Krzysztof Bosak, Deputy Speaker of the Sejm, in Białystok before the “Stop Immigration” rally.
At 12:00 noon, protests under the slogan “Stop Immigration” began in at least 80 cities across Poland. They were a show of opposition to the phenomenon of mass illegal immigration and the government’s policies on this issue.
“People are taking to the streets to express their opposition to mass immigration, the failure of immigration policy, and the failure of the government’s border protection strategy,” said Bosak ahead of the rally in Białystok.
He emphasized that his political group has proposed a package of solutions aimed at one core goal: “The borders must be closed to mass immigration, especially uncontrolled immigration.”
“We have an enormous number of immigrants in Poland-we don’t even know how many, because the Polish state does not maintain a unified register and has no proper oversight over who is actually in the country. Even those we know to be staying illegally are not effectively deported. Instead, they are registered by the Border Guard, given temporary documents, and released. They move freely around the country, and it’s hard to say where they are. Various abuses occur-like transporting them to Caritas facilities, children’s homes, or placing them in locations where no one wants to accept them,” Bosak said.
“We expect the government to change its policy on these issues. We demand the closure of the western border to migrants returned from Germany. We demand that the borders with Lithuania, Slovakia, Ukraine, and Belarus be closed to illegal immigration. We also demand legal protection for Border Guard officers, soldiers, and police officers-so they can open fire, use weapons, and not fear the consequences when someone illegally crosses the border and refuses to follow orders,” he added.
