American Coco Gauff was Iga Swiatek’s rival in the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Dubai. The Pole seals her place in the final thanks to the triumph, she won 2:0 (6:4, 6:2).
The start of the first set was very even. Gauff tried to break the Pole at every possible opportunity. With the score 3:2 (for Iga) in games, great confidence returned to Swiatek. She got out to a 5:2 lead at a rapid pace and then Gauff forced some errors on Iga with her fast play. The end was wildly even and nervous, but in the end, it was Swiatek who won the first set 6:4.
The second set belonged to Swiatek. She played with confidence and accuracy. Towards the end of the lightning-fast set, Coco got lucky (4:1), who once again spun in the final phase of the set and broke Świątek (4:2). The Pole didn’t waste an opportunity to break back in the next game on her serve.
In the final, World No.1 will face the winner of the Pegula-Krejcikova clash.
