Takeover of the Constitutional Tribunal? Ziobro warns against the State’s systematic destruction

A happening is set to take place in the Sejm involving candidates for judges of the Constitutional Tribunal who President Karol Nawrocki has not sworn in. They are to “take an oath” before the Speaker of the Sejm, Włodzimierz Czarzasty. “The provisions of the law are clear. The oath must be taken before the President, not before the Speaker of the Sejm. This would be a fictitious and invalid act. What does that mean? Escalating chaos!” former Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro said on TV Republika.

On Thursday, four candidates elected as judges of the Constitutional Tribunal, but not sworn in by President Karol Nawrocki, are to take an “oath” in the Sejm before Speaker Włodzimierz Czarzasty. This act would be invalid, as under the law, judges of the Tribunal take their oath before the President of the Republic of Poland.

The planned happening involving the unsworn judges of the Constitutional Tribunal was commented on by Law and Justice MP Zbigniew Ziobro, who is currently in Budapest.

“This is an obvious continuation of the sabotage and a creeping coup against the state system being carried out by the December 13 coalition,”

he said in an interview with TV Republika.

“The provisions of the law are clear. The oath must be taken before the President, not before the Speaker of the Sejm. This would be a fictitious and invalid act. What does that mean? Escalating chaos!”

Ziobro emphasized.

The former Minister of Justice did not spare criticism of Prime Minister Donald Tusk, stating that “he does not respect the sovereign Polish state.” He pointed to the “devastation of the Polish state and its institutions.”

“We cannot agree to the total devastation of the state, lawlessness, and the commission of obvious criminal offenses, because that is what it would be if pseudo-judges were forcibly introduced into the Tribunal,”

Ziobro said.
