The battle for Bakhmut is underway. Russian forces have been trying to take the city since August 2022. The heaviest and bloodiest fighting in Russia’s war with Ukraine is taking place there. Despite predictions that the command in Kiev may decide to withdraw from the city, Ukrainian troops are continuing to defend Bakhmut.
