In 2023, the JAZZ PO POLSKU’s Around the World project concluded its first phase with over 60 concerts across three continents. Thirty musicians performed in 10 countries, showcasing original jazz compositions in North America, Asia, and Europe.
The JAZZ PO POLSKU Around the World project is inspired by the achievements of the Polish explorer Paweł Edmund Strzelecki, who, as the first Pole on his own initiative, circumnavigated the globe. Strzelecki undertook an extraordinary journey from 1834 to 1843, during which he conducted extensive geological and geographical research, contributing to the development of knowledge about the contemporary world.
Global Jazz Exploration: A Musical Odyssey
Leading figures from the Polish independent jazz and improvisation scene graced the “Around the World” tour, captivating audiences from April to October 2023. Renowned artists, including Piotr Krępeć, Michał Ciesielski Band, Mateusz Gawęda Trio, and more, shared their artistry in festivals and clubs across Albania, China, Croatia, Israel, Japan, Canada, Romania, Serbia, Vietnam, and Taiwan.
Musical Collaborations and Special Events
Apart from presenting original repertoires, the musicians collaborated with local artists to create special events. The project, inspired by Polish explorer Paweł Edmund Strzelecki, who circled the globe independently in the 19th century, aims to spread Polish jazz worldwide.
Stay tuned for a documentary series by filmmaker Maciej Głowiński, capturing the musicians’ achievements and adventures during the “Around the World” project.
