    The Many Faces of Sergiusz Piasecki: A Journey Through Time

    On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 12:00 PM, the Monastery of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in Nowa Słupia hosted the opening of the IPN exhibition “The Seven Faces of Sergiusz Piasecki.” The event will include a lecture by Dr. Tomasz Balbus and feature IPN President Dr. Karol Nawrocki.


    The exhibition takes visitors on an extraordinary journey through the life and work of Sergiusz Piasecki, one of the most intriguing Polish writers of the 20th century. Comprised of nine panels, it covers his military service, espionage work, imprisonment, literary career, wartime resistance activities, and life in exile. The exhibition is enriched with quotes and descriptions that provide context and insight into Piasecki’s multifaceted life.

    The venue is historically significant, as Piasecki was imprisoned there during the interwar period. The harsh conditions he endured led to a profound spiritual transformation, influencing his subsequent literary achievements. The exhibition will be on display at Święty Krzyż until the end of the summer.

    Legacy of a Controversial Figure

    Sergiusz Piasecki (1899–1964) was a complex figure—smuggler, spy, writer, and soldier. Known for his staunch anti-communism and literary prowess, he remains a captivating and controversial figure in Polish history.
