They want Zbigniew Ziobro’s assets. Court places compulsory mortgage on properties

The District Court in Rawa Mazowiecka has decided to place a so-called compulsory mortgage on properties belonging to former justice minister Zbigniew Ziobro. The motion was filed by the unlawfully seized National Prosecutor’s Office.

Judge Grzegorz Gała, spokesperson for the Regional Court in Łódź, announced on Friday that the District Court in Rawa Mazowiecka had entered a compulsory mortgage on properties owned by Ziobro. He added that the decision was issued on Wednesday at the request of the National Prosecutor’s Office, while the mortgage entry into the land and mortgage registers was made by the court on Friday.

Not the first motion

The asset seizure is intended to secure the enforceability of any future court rulings involving financial penalties. The next stage of the procedure предусматривает notifying both the applicant — the National Prosecutor’s Office — and the debtor, the former head of the Justice Ministry, about the security measure and the registration in the land and mortgage records.

This is another attempt to impose asset security measures on, among other things, Ziobro’s house in Jeruzal near Skierniewice. Earlier motions submitted by the unlawfully seized National Prosecutor’s Office were rejected due to formal deficiencies.

Ziobro is currently in the United States as a commentator for Telewizja Republika. The National Prosecutor’s Office accuses him of leading an organized criminal group and using his position to carry out activities of a criminal nature.
