They Were United Only by “Eight Stars”. Dworczyk: “That Bond Was Never Going to Last Long”

The bond that united the parties currently forming Poland’s ruling coalition was the “eight stars” slogan, allegedly planted by Russian agents. Such a connection was never going to hold together such vastly different groups for long — said Michał Dworczyk (PiS) on TV Republika. In his opinion, however, the coalition will last until the 2027 elections, driven by the desire to hold onto power and fear of accountability.

In a conversation with Danuta Holecka, Dworczyk admitted that the “cracks” in the ruling coalition are noticeable even in the European Parliament.

“It’s a bond that brought together parties with completely different views. The ‘eight stars’, planted by Russian agents, was practically the only thing holding them together,” noted Michał Dworczyk.

In his view, such a flimsy link could not keep such diverse groups united for long.

“So I’m not surprised by the current turmoil. But I believe that despite these tensions — and possibly even outright conflicts that we’re going to witness — this coalition will survive until 2027. Nothing unites these groups like the desire to stay in power, keep their positions, their dislike of PiS, and now also fear. Because these people have committed a number of serious offenses,” Dworczyk argued.

He cited, among other things, the illegal takeover of public television and what he called “criminal activity” in the unlawful seizure of the prosecutor’s office.

“They’re simply afraid of the consequences,” he added.

The discussion also touched on recent polls suggesting that, if elections were held today, the coalition would not be able to form a parliamentary majority.

“Today, the support they have clearly does not point to a coalition capable of forming a government. But in my view, we need to treat all polls with great caution. The only real poll is the one at the ballot box. We have to work hard to win the elections in 2027,” said Michał Dworczyk.
