Góra, near Płock. Just 39 residents according to official data. A small wooden church. And crowds of people on Easter Sunday—because they come from nearby villages to take part in a unique procession in traditional folk costumes. This is the scene captured and described on social media by Hektik Hektor—an Australian with a Polish soul who has been gaining online popularity with his videos about Poland.
Hektik Hektor was born in Sydney, Australia. His parents arrived there in 1981, having previously grown up in Warsaw’s Praga district. As a result, he holds dual citizenship—Polish and Australian—but, as he emphasizes, Poland is in his heart.
He became known online for publishing videos that praise Poland and challenge stereotypes about the country. He describes himself openly as a Polish patriot. And he presents Poland as many Poles no longer see it—because they have grown too accustomed to what is within their everyday reach.
Easter Procession in Góra
On Easter Sunday, Hektik Hektor visited the village of Góra near Płock. What he saw clearly moved him. A small wooden church filled to capacity with worshippers, a procession in traditional folk attire before the Holy Mass, people arriving from surrounding villages—images that may seem ordinary to local residents made a powerful impression on him.
“It is beautiful to see how Christianity is celebrated here so proudly and openly on a daily basis, and especially on days like today,” he wrote. “And to me, it looks as if the world may slowly even be starting to do the same.”
This is precisely where the strength of Hektik Hektor’s message lies. Things that are everyday life for Poles—an Easter procession, folk costumes, a small church filled with the faithful—appear unique and deeply moving to someone who grew up in Australia. And that sense of admiration resonates with his audience, reminding them that they have something valuable that is easy to overlook.
Hektik Hektor concluded his Easter wishes to his followers with the words: “I wish everyone a blessed and joyful Easter spent with family, friends, and loved ones. Happy Easter!”
