    Tragedy Strikes at Sobieski Mine: Four Miners Lose Their Lives

    A sombre air envelops the mining community as news of a fatal accident at the Sobieski Mine reverberates, leaving four miners dead. The Higher Mining Office has confirmed the casualties. The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, around 3:30 PM. President Paweł Silbert of Jaworzno extended condolences to the families of the victims.

    Within the Tauron Wydobycie company’s Sobieski mine, a devastating accident unfolded, culminating in the loss of four lives. The rescue operation has concluded, marking the end of a harrowing chapter. Four individuals are no longer with us.

    According to Tauron Wydobycie, those who perished were experienced workers with several years of service in the mining industry, ranging from 34 to 39 years of age.

    The rescue operation persisted at the accident site until 8:35 PM, concluding with the retrieval of the miners’ bodies, confirmed deceased by medical professionals.

    Among the six individuals involved in the incident, five were employees of the Sobieski Mining Plant, while one was from an external company.

    Authorities responsible for overseeing mining operations, including the Katowice District Mining Office, State Labor Inspectorate, Prosecution Office, and a post-accident team assembled by the Employer, are actively investigating the circumstances and causes of the tragedy.
