Rescue teams in Slovakia’s High Tatra Mountains made a somber discovery yesterday, locating the body of a 39-year-old Polish man near the peak of Lomnica. The individual had been missing since August 12, prompting an urgent search following concerns raised by his family.
The deceased, an avid hiker aiming to conquer several summits that form part of the esteemed “Crown of the High Tatras,” embarked on the solo journey but soon lost contact with his relatives. His absence triggered an immediate response from the Horska Zachranna Sluzba, Slovakia’s mountain rescue service.
Utilizing drone technology equipped with cameras, the rescue team resumed their search early Monday morning. Initial clues came when they spotted personal belongings in the vicinity, eventually leading to the grim discovery of the climber’s body.
Slovak police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident to determine the cause of death.
