In a groundbreaking initiative, Health Minister Katarzyna Sójka has launched a pilot program revolutionizing care for patients with early inflammatory joint diseases (EIJDs) in Poland. The Comprehensive Care Pilot Program encompasses early-stage arthritis (EA), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriatic arthritis (PA), ankylosing spondylitis (AS), and spondyloarthritis (SpA) patients. Over three years, this program will unfold in 15 EA centers across 11 provinces.
Minister Sójka stated, “This initiative streamlines the patient journey, ensuring swift referral to specialized centers. Early diagnosis is key; the sooner therapy begins, the better the outcomes.”
The program comprises two modules: a diagnostic phase led by rheumatologists and a comprehensive care phase involving specialized consultations, tailored medical rehabilitation, and psychomotor therapy. The project aims to establish medical protocols and documentation standards. At the program’s evaluation stage, a comprehensive report will analyze effectiveness metrics and service quality.
Prof. Brygida Kwiatkowska, national consultant in rheumatology, emphasized the program’s impact on patients’ quality of life. Additionally, a game-changing element is the Inflammatory Rheumatic Diseases Database, enhancing diagnostic and treatment processes.
Led by the National Institute of Geriatrics, Rheumatology, and Rehabilitation, this initiative promises a holistic, patient-centric approach, underscoring Poland’s commitment to cutting-edge healthcare solutions.
