“ETS-shmets and renewables-shmrenewables – that’s the kind of language used by today’s opposition. Safeguarding Polish interests requires something more,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on X. The head of government received an immediate response from Mateusz Morawiecki. “Donald, while you hide behind some rhymes, I act, and today I have already sent a letter on this matter to Ursula von der Leyen, with concrete solutions,” the opposition politician addressed the prime minister.
Tusk Speaks on ETS
President Karol Nawrocki presented Prime Minister Donald Tusk with his position ahead of the upcoming European Council meeting. The document included specific proposals for changes to the harmful ETS system. Meanwhile, the Law and Justice (PiS) parliamentary club submitted a draft resolution calling on the prime minister to take all possible measures to withdraw Poland from ETS.
Tusk responded today to appeals from the opposition and the Presidential Palace.
“To all those who believe that ETS is just some ‘ETS-whatever’, so to use the language currently in vogue among the opposition – no, this is not simple. It requires very complex and highly creative actions. Fortunately, we have a team that is truly capable of handling this in Europe,”
the prime minister stated.
He added that Poland would allegedly “seek specifically Polish solutions, to respect our situation, in which ETS constitutes a very significant and negatively decisive factor when it comes to energy prices.”
The politician posted his statement on X, adding the following comment:
“ETS-shmets and renewables-shmrenewables – that’s the kind of language used by today’s opposition. Safeguarding Polish interests requires something more.”
Morawiecki to Tusk: “Donald, While You Hide Behind Rhymes, I Act”
Tusk’s post drew numerous comments.
“Donald, while you hide behind some rhymes, I act, and today I have already sent a letter on this matter to Ursula von der Leyen, with concrete solutions. Get to work!”
wrote MP Mateusz Morawiecki, addressing the head of government.
Sebastian Kaleta, also a PiS MP, stated that “hundreds of billions of PLN that have flowed out of Poland are the result of decisions made by you and Ewa Kopacz in 2014/2015, which came into force in 2019.”
“The Polish economy is paying because you unknowingly implemented a German plan. Therefore, please remain silent, because when you say you have a team and are ‘getting things done,’ it means that Poles will, in the coming years, finance several SAFE loans through climate levies. The problem is that this money will boost the German and French economies, as is already the case with ETS when looking at the net balance of the entire system,”
the opposition politician appealed to Tusk.
There are also other comments:
“Yes, you took such good care of Polish interests that under your government, there was no money for anything, while the VAT mafia had El Dorado. Let me remind you that April Fools’ Day is on April 1.”
“Your interests are, in practice, German interests, and you do not even try to hide it. Truth has ceased to matter to you, replaced by crude lies and manipulation. You have turned lies into a tool of action, and public debate into a theatre where reality does not matter, only who, from this pathetic ‘December 13 coalition,’ plays their role better and pleases the director of German interests, Tusk.”
