Uncertain Outlook for Żurek: Voters Divided on Whether He’ll Outperform Bodnar

According to a United Surveys poll for Wirtualna Polska, 37.7% of respondents don’t know whether Waldemar Żurek will be a better Minister of Justice than Adam Bodnar. 36% believe Żurek will perform better, while 26.3% think otherwise. Despite an aggressive start during which Żurek conducted purges in the judiciary, even among Civic Coalition voters, only 16% are certain he will outperform Bodnar.

Respondents were asked whether, in their opinion, the new Minister of Justice, Waldemar Żurek, will prove to be better in the role than his predecessor, Adam Bodnar.

36% of those surveyed, of which only 5.9% said “definitely” and 30.1% said “rather”, believe Żurek will do a better job. On the other hand, a total of 26.3% disagreed, 11.4% “definitely” and 14.9% “rather.” However, the largest group, 37.7%, were unable to assess whether Żurek has a better chance of being a more effective minister than Bodnar.

Positive expectations for Żurek’s future performance dominate among voters of the ruling coalition, amounting to a combined 67%. Still, even here, only 16% of respondents are “definitely” confident, while 51% assess his chances “rather positively.” 11% of respondents from this group view him negatively.

Among opposition voters, 1% believe Żurek will be definitely better than Bodnar, 23% say rather better, 17% ratherworse, and 21% definitely worse.

As for the remaining voters, the overwhelming majority, 74%, answered simply: “I don’t know.”

According to Wirtualna Polska, the United Surveys poll was conducted between July 25 and 27 using CATI (computer-assisted telephone interviewing) and CAWI (computer-assisted web interviewing) methods, on a sample of 1,000 respondents.
