An unexpected change has taken place in the Polish government. On Thursday, Maja Nowak announced that she had resigned from her positions as Deputy Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy and the Government Plenipotentiary for Persons with Disabilities. The Poland 2050 MP said her decision was driven by family reasons. She had held the posts for only six months.
Nowak, a member of the Poland 2050 party, had served as Deputy Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy and Government Plenipotentiary for Persons with Disabilities since December 2025. She succeeded Łukasz Krasoń, who is also affiliated with Poland 2050.
She announced her resignation in a post published on social media on Thursday.
“This was not an easy decision because I never came to the ministry for the position itself. I came for the issues that matter. For the people. For the changes that I had also fought for over many years as a social activist. Whatever I undertake, I always try to give it 100 percent—with full commitment, responsibility, and heart. I approached this mission in exactly the same way,” Nowak wrote.
Explaining her decision, she pointed to family circumstances.
“Today, however, my child needs me more than the ministry does. And there are moments when you have to stop and choose what matters most,” she said.
