Rail Disaster in Poland: Intercity and Polregio Trains Collide

Two passenger trains, including a PKP Intercity service, collided in the town of Białośliwie in the Piła County of western Poland. According to Głos Wielkopolski, around 200 people were on board the two trains. Fortunately, based on the information available so far, there have been no fatalities.

According to sources cited by Głos Wielkopolski, the collision occurred in Białośliwie shortly after 6:00 p.m. The incident was confirmed by the duty officer of the Greater Poland Regional State Fire Service, who told reporters that approximately 200 passengers were involved, as they had been traveling on the two passenger trains.

The newspaper reports that the collision involved a Polregio train operating on the Piła–Bydgoszcz route and a PKP Intercity service traveling from Białogard to Warsaw.

Despite the scale of the incident and the number of passengers on board, the initial reports are reassuring. The fire service duty officer said there have been no reports of fatalities. One person sustained a head injury, while two others were receiving medical treatment at the scene.
