As reported by transinfo.pl, on April 11, the Municipal Bus Company (MZA) in Warsaw announced the cancellation of Solaris’ selected offer for the delivery of 50 articulated electric buses, along with the already signed contract.
A Situation Without Precedent
ccording to the portal, this is an unprecedented decision—the first of its kind in the history of the Polish bus market in the 21st century!
The MZA Warsaw procurement process has been full of twists and turns from the very beginning. Initially, in both tenders—for 30 MAXI buses and 50 MEGA articulated buses—Irizar’s offer was selected.
Later, the decision was overturned, and MZA chose Solaris (MEGA) as the winner while rejecting Yutong’s (MAXI) proposal. Then, in another unexpected turn, Busnex Poland with the Yutong U12 won the MAXI tender.
And now, the sharpest twist yet: Solaris loses the already signed contract for 50 articulated e-buses for MZA. Following a ruling by the National Appeals Chamber (KIO) operating under the Public Procurement Office, which ordered the cancellation of the contract and a re-evaluation of offers, it appears that Irizar e-mobility is once again in the lead.
