“We have a major task ahead of us. That task is to defeat the ‘Green Rafał’ on June 1st. Afterwards, through a referendum and with the support of Solidarity, we will reject eco-terrorism and return to normalcy,” said Karol Nawrocki, the civic candidate for President of Poland, speaking to residents of Rybnik.
On June 1st, Poles will head to the polls for the second round of the presidential election: Karol Nawrocki versus Rafał Trzaskowski.
As part of their campaigns, both candidates continue visiting towns and cities across Poland in an effort to win over more voters. Today, the civic candidate visited Rybnik.
“What’s happening to our homeland?”
At the beginning of the event, Nawrocki emphasized the importance of coal as a natural resource.
“When I arrived here, I was handed a piece of coal. Coal is the salt of this land—the salt of Silesia. It’s black gold. It’s vital not only economically and as a resource, but it’s also a foundation for your families—often for generations. It’s a tradition rooted in this land and the Silesian soil, a land of freedom and a centuries-old pursuit of Polish identity. A victorious land for Poland. Coal is a symbol of this region. And today, what’s happening to our homeland? I was asked to protect Polish coal if I become president,” he said.
He went on to say that Poland also needs nuclear power:
“Yes, we are on a bold, ambitious, and crucial path toward nuclear energy. Toward flexible, stable nuclear energy as a source of power. We want this, and I will be an ambitious president, a president of your future. We want nuclear power, we want the Central Communication Port, seaports, roads. We want development.”
“We will not be defeated by those who embrace national micromanagement. We will be ambitious. And we will not give up our natural resources just because we are ordered to by the foreign ideology of the Green Deal, which aims to destroy Polish coal mines,” he stressed.
The crowd in Rybnik’s town square erupted with loud chants of: “This is Poland!”
“We Won’t Do What Brussels Wants”
Nawrocki reiterated: “This is Poland, and we love our great homeland deeply—that’s why we are here.”
He also referred to a comment made by Rafał Trzaskowski during yesterday’s presidential debate. The Civic Coalition candidate claimed that “the Green Deal doesn’t exist.”
“My opponent said during the debate yesterday—and this should be good news for Rybnik—that the Green Deal doesn’t exist. In fact, that was just one of many lies from Rafał Trzaskowski, as pointed out by the Demagog portal. But I’m telling you—the Green Deal is real. And it continues to loom over Polish mining, our energy sector, and the electricity bills of 14 million households. Because of the Green Deal, we are paying too much for electricity. And we won’t be fooled into believing it doesn’t exist. Let me tell you what I plan to do to defend Polish coal. And I must say it here in Rybnik: Polish coal must be mined, extracted, and used to grow the Republic of Poland,” said the civic presidential candidate.
He also firmly declared: “We will not let them take our coal just because Brussels demands it. I will protect it as the President of Poland.”
“That’s the task ahead of us: to defeat ‘Green Rafał’ on June 1st. Then, through a referendum and with the support of Solidarity, we will reject eco-terrorism and return to normalcy,” he concluded.
