Michał Wójcik, an MP from Law and Justice, announced that he would take steps to organize a special parliamentary committee meeting concerning the investigation into the murder of Sgt. Mateusz Sitek.
“It can of course be classified, but so that we have access to a broader range of materials and information from the Ministry of the Interior, the services, and the Ministry of Justice,” the parliamentarian said on TV Republika.
The host of the program, Monika Borkowska, asked the guests how their political groups would respond to the prosecutor’s statement released earlier that day, according to which the investigation had been suspended because the suspect in the murder of the Polish soldier is staying in Belarus.
“I hope everyone will support it”
Michał Wójcik commented on the matter.
“I think the best response would be a committee. It can, of course, be classified, but so that we have access to a broader range of materials and information from the Ministry of the Interior, the services, and the Ministry of Justice. It is possible, and it is a good forum to discuss this openly. If there is classified information, the meeting can be held in a classified format — such a procedure exists. I will speak with Chairman Mariusz Błaszczak about this matter. Knowing his extraordinary empathy for Polish soldiers, he will most likely agree. I am convinced that he will. I will also speak with our MPs, and I hope that everyone will simply support it. We could settle this within a dozen hours. If the chairman of the justice committee were watching Republika right now and said, ‘Yes, this is an important issue,’ we could be sitting in a meeting tomorrow,” he said.
He explained that an appeal for a committee meeting can be submitted, but such a meeting may be scheduled within up to 30 days.
Meanwhile, Krzysztof Szymański of Confederation emphasized that his party supports doing everything possible to resume the proceedings concerning the soldier’s death and bring the case to a conclusion.
It should be recalled that after numerous attempts to obtain information about the investigation, a statement from the Warsaw Regional Prosecutor’s Office was finally released on Tuesday. During the investigation, it was established that the suspect in the murder of the Polish soldier is a Moroccan citizen, Mohamed Addamrou.
The District Court for the Capital City of Warsaw ordered the suspect’s temporary detention, which enabled authorities to pursue him through a wanted notice and a European Arrest Warrant.
In an interview with Niezalezna.pl, the spokesman for the Warsaw Regional Prosecutor’s Office, prosecutor Piotr Antoni Skiba, confirmed that an Interpol Red Notice has also been issued for Addamrou.
The prosecutor’s office established that the suspect is currently staying in Belarus. Consequently, in December 2025, a request was sent to Minsk seeking his temporary arrest and extradition to Poland.
However, the investigation was suspended “due to a long-term procedural obstacle, namely the suspect’s stay outside the territory of the Republic of Poland and the extradition procedure initiated by Polish law enforcement authorities.”
